Upper90

The What

Upper90 is a recreation and sports ministry to provide soccer clubs for low-income communities in order to share the Gospel with the kids and families who participate. Upper 90’s goal is to leverage the platform of soccer and the influence of mentor coaches to empower children to WIN on the field and in life.

The Who

Founded by Jorge Vallejo in Atlanta in 2011, Upper 90 has been inspired and led by the Holy Spirit to work with vulnerable communities in Atlanta and Honduras to help improve their quality of life and transform hearts for Christ.

Ways to Get Involved

Serve in this transformational ministry by volunteering as a mentor coach, a relational coach (soccer experience not required!), or a referee. Or volunteer off the pitch supporting the team in setting up an environment to welcome families and children on Saturdays or on the Parking & Gate Crew. Or, grab some friends and “adopt” a team, providing them with snacks and encouragement.

Curriculum and training on how to lead well in this area provided. Spring season runs from Mid February to Mid May. Fall season runs from Mid August to Mid November. Engages player's families in order to build meaningful relationships.

Relational Coach

The primary role of the Relational Coach is to invest in the relational aspect and build meaningful relationships with the children and their families. Soccer experience desired but not required. Supports Mentor Coach in the leading and facilitating of the Life Skill curriculum. Engages player's families in order to build meaningful relationships.

Referee

Referees 3-4, 50 minute matches on Saturdays. Can commit to referee one or more Saturdays if possible. Basic soccer knowledge required.

Parking & Gate Crew

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
